•Prepares chemical solutions, powders, reagents, coatings, and various samples as directed.
•Performs QC checks on all batches and records results in QC book and batch sheet.
•Cleans the lab daily and maintains clean glassware, work surfaces, floors, instruments, tools, and quickly cleans up any spills in the lab.
•Assists with research and development projects and documents findings in lab notebook.
•Responsible for developing and maintaining database of all raw material technical data sheets.
•Packaging sample shipments for UPS as needed.
•Assisting with providing technical phone support to customers as needed. (training required)
•Calling or meeting with suppliers to request literature and discuss technical issues.
•Using the appropriate PPE to handle hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
•Monitoring inventory, sourcing, and requesting lab supplies as needed.
•Assisting Chemist with developing new products and formulas to meet customer specifications.
•Testing and improving existing formulas and products to enhance performance or lower costs.
•As time permits, photographing production, equipment, personnel, and lab to assist marketing.
•Conducting research via the Internet, books, phone, or other as needed for special projects.
•Filling in for the Chemist in his absence.
•General knowledge of the principles and practices of natural and/or chemical sciences.
•General knowledge of safe and proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
•Ability to perform lab procedures using applicable equipment and techniques.
•Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•PC proficiency with common software applications (Excel, Word, Internet Explorer).
•Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds of materials.
•Must wear and work in personal protective equipment.
